I formatted my hard drive as I believe it had a virus on it, it returned to factory condition, but when I logged on the next day, I was blue screened.

Im lost, its taken me forever and a day to try combat this thing and yet its still screwing me round, I need help, im sorry if it seems a bit vague, Im sneaking this in during computing at school

does it say anything when it blue screens?

Jot it down the next time it errors on you and post it.

Could it maybe be a problem with the OS or the install CD? Because that problem just doesn't sound right - blue screen after reformat?
Also, Hazard, Toast lives in NZ, which is approximately 20 hours or so (don't hold me to that) ahead of US, therefore, what may have been a Sunday for you was actually a Monday for him.

Pretty accurate guess pando, and I'll remember to write it down, its seriously pissing me off now, as I rely upon the computer for school work, I can type twice as fast as I write, and deleting saves paper and time finding more paper

I have a bootable copy of Windows XP Pro I may be able to send you.

Also keep in mind that it may be your CD or DVD drive that is causing the issue. They can go bad.. ESECIALLY on laptops.

One of the things you may do is on the initial OS installalation have it go through and check all the files (diff between NFTS(Quick) and NTFS on windows xp cd's).

Also keep in mind you can also copy the cd over to a new one and try that. They don't always like to read the same disk over and over. (CD drives on Laptops are really funky like that. One of the things that seems to fix them for a while is flashing and updating the Drive's Firmware (kind of drivers)).

To copy a windows CD google it. Basically you will need a crack to get a particular file off it, plus a strait out copy. I have windows XP full I boot and reinstall off now with my own cd key that i just copied over from my mother's computer's disk (mine is upgrade).

If you can, swap out cd drives and try that. Remember you cannot boot and reinstall on most (if not all) computer off a usb drive, it has to be internal.

Don't worry I think I cleared it up, theres something wrong with start up repair, so I just skipped it and its working fine, well has been for two days so far without incident

In revoloutions smith says "Mr anderson, we've missed you." it would of been awesome if he'd turned round to all the other smiths and been like "Haven't we boys?" and they all respond saying things like "Yes we have" "yes yes" "Oh my yes" "you should stop by more often" (If i told you in person you'd laugh... hard to type it)

Also when Captain Mifune says "you all know me" someone should shout "Who the f*ck are you?" in the background
